The San Francisco Society for Lacanian Studies is a group of clinicians and scholars located primarily in the San Francisco Bay area who are interested in the pursuit and elaboration of Lacanian theory and praxis. The Society is the forerunner of the Lacanian School of Psychoanalysis, and functions as a self-supporting organization that sponsors lectures, classes, presentations and symposia for itself and for the community at large.
The Society is planning the next installment of its annual film screening and discussion series 'a Second Look', scheduled for February 2006. Further details to be announced soon.
Each year the Society also sponsors a Symposium. This is a day long intellectual forum where members, Students and Candidates from the Lacanian School and invited guests may present papers of a clinical, theoretical or critical nature. Details about the next Symposium, scheduled for early 2006, to follow.
